Jeb Bush, the media darling in the GOP Presidential race is out of his mind. The presidential hopeful doesn't have a clue about the US Constitution. The 2nd amendment clearly states the right to bear arms shall not be infringed and is designed to provide America's citizens a means to protect themselves from a tyrannical government.
AMENDMENT II: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Jeb doesn't have a single clue about the 10th amendment either. The 10th amendment says that if the constitution doesn't explicitly grant powers to the federal government the states can make their own laws.
AMENDMENT X: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
In a Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Colbert said "Well, the right to have an individual firearm to protect yourself is a national document, in the Constitution, so shouldn’t that also be applied national…" It got worse when Gov. Bush interrupted Colbert to say "No. Not necessarily…There’s a 10th amendment to our country, the Bill of Rights has a 10th amendment that says powers are given to the states to create policy, and the federal government is not the end all and be all. That’s an important value for this country, and it’s an important federalist system that works quite well."
